How to Choose the Right PoE Injector

What is a PoE Injector

A PoE Injector is a device that can simultaneously provide data transmission and power supply through an Ethernet cable. It can connect non-PoE network devices to PoE terminals, solving the problem of separate wiring for power supply. The E-link LNK-INJ301-90 is a typical industrial gigabit 95W PoE++ power supply, supporting a wide input voltage range of 12 to 48VDC. With the power boost function, it can provide stable power to PoE terminals within 100 meters, making it an excellent choice for industrial and commercial scenarios.

Importance and Key Characteristics of Selecting a PoE Injector

The core of choosing the right PoE Injector lies in matching the device power and adapting to the usage environment. Its key characteristics directly determine the user experience. Firstly, the power specification must be compatible with the IEEE802.3af/at/bt standards. For example, the LNK-INJ301-90 can provide 95W PoE power under 48/24VDC input, and 60W under 12VDC, meeting the power requirements of high-power devices; Secondly, the network performance must support gigabit transmission. This product is compatible with 10/100/1000Base-TX and has a forwarding rate of 1488000pps, ensuring data transmission efficiency; Thirdly, the environmental and hardware characteristics. For industrial scenarios, a product with a wide temperature range of -40℃ to 80℃, IP40 protection, and an aluminum shell should be selected. Moreover, this device has an MTBF of over 200,000 hours and is equipped with LED diagnostic indicator lights, facilitating fault troubleshooting.

Working Principle of PoE Injector

The working principle of the PoE Injector is a series connection type. One end is connected to the non-PoE switch through the RJ45 port to receive data, and the other end is connected to the terminal through the RJ45 PoE output port. Data is transmitted through the 1,2TX and 3,6RX pairs, while power is output through the 1,2,4,5 (+) and 3,6,7,8 (-) backup pairs. This enables the simultaneous transmission of data and power over the same line. The LNK-INJ301-90 also supports end-to-end / mid-to-end PSE standards, with wide voltage input and power boosting function. It can stably convert and supply power under an input range of 12 to 48VDC, suitable for different power supply environments.

Installation Techniques for PoE Injectors

When installing a PoE Injector, it is necessary to follow simple and practical principles. The LNK-INJ301-90 supports both DIN rail and wall-mounted installation methods. It is equipped with a DIN rail bracket by default, and the wall-mount kit is a standard accessory. It can be flexibly adapted for installation in industrial cabinets or on the wall. Wiring should use Category 5 or higher unshielded twisted pair cables. The maximum transmission distance is 100 meters. For gigabit transmission, it is recommended to use Category 5 or higher specification cables. When wiring, distinguish between the data input and PoE output ports. The power is connected through the terminal block to 12-48VDC. An optional 48VDC/2.5A power supply can be selected separately. After installation, quickly determine the working status of the equipment by checking the Power and PoE indicator lights.

Typical Application Scenarios of PoE Injector

The application scenarios of PoE Injector revolve around those that require simplified wiring and stable power supply. The LNK-INJ301-90, with its industrial characteristics, can be widely used in scenarios such as PoE network cameras in security monitoring centers, wireless APs in data centers and office areas, IP telephones in industrial and commercial environments, etc. It can adapt to harsh industrial environments and meet the power supply requirements for long-distance and high-power PoE terminals. It is an ideal power supply solution for fields such as security, network communication, and industrial monitoring.
